Fiber Optic Installation for Building Backbones and Campus Links

Fiber connects the parts of a network that copper cannot reach: floors, buildings and data rooms that are far apart or need more bandwidth. RHC installs, terminates and tests single-mode and multimode fiber, and hands over test results for every strand.

The challenges

  • Copper runs between closets that exceed 100 meters or cross into other buildings.
  • Backbones that cannot keep up with 10 Gb switches, cameras and growing traffic.
  • Electrical interference in industrial areas or near heavy equipment.
  • Old fiber with unknown type, dirty connectors or high loss, and no test records.
  • Plenum, riser and outdoor routes that each need the right cable rating.

How we do it

  1. 1Route survey: pathways, distances, conduit, risers and building entries between every point to connect.
  2. 2Design: fiber type (OS2 single-mode or OM4/OM5 multimode), strand count with spare capacity, enclosures and connectors.
  3. 3Installation: cable pulled in conduit, innerduct or tray with the right rating for each space, respecting bend radius.
  4. 4Termination: fusion-spliced pigtails or pre-terminated assemblies into rack-mounted or wall enclosures.
  5. 5Testing: loss testing on every strand and OTDR traces where the link calls for them.
  6. 6Documentation: labeling, as-built route and the test report for each strand.

What’s included

Single-mode (OS2) and multimode (OM3, OM4, OM5) fiber
Inside plant: risers, backbones and data rooms
Building-to-building links in conduit
Fusion splicing and LC/SC termination
Fiber enclosures, patch panels and patch cords
Tier 1 loss testing and OTDR reports

Why RHC

Every strand tested, with results you keep
Spare strands planned in, so the next upgrade does not need new cable
Fiber backbone and copper horizontal cabling from a single team
Work coordinated with the building, the landlord and other trades

Frequently asked questions

Multimode (OM4 or OM5) is cost-effective for links inside a building, up to a few hundred meters. Single-mode (OS2) is the choice for longer runs, building-to-building links and anything you want to future-proof.
